GCTE, Mangaluru has the responsibility of supervising academic activities across four districts of the Mysore Division, i.e., Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chickmagaluru and Kodagu. The college is continuously in touch with the educational officers of these districts in its endeavour to improve the quality of education in these districts.
GCTE, Mangaluru conducts in-service training programmes for the teachers of Dakshina Kannada district. The training needs of the other three districts are taken care of by the respective DIETs in these districts.
The training inputs are planned at the state level by DSERT. The modules for the training are prepared taking the services of expert teachers and other professionals. The DSERT conducts MRP training either at the state level or at the divisional level. These MRPs in turn train teachers of their districts. The following programmes were approved for the year 2015-16. The trainings started in the month of September and are due to be over by the end of this calendar year.

The major focus of all these programmes is to familiarise teachers with the constructivist approach to classroom processes and to clarify their doubts in content and pedagogy. The transactional methods include discussions, group work, demonstrations and activities. They are oriented to make their classroom transactions more learner-centred by organising activities that facilitate collaborative learning.
This year’s MRP Training for Science Subject Teachers’ Forum took place in this college. In all 30 MRPs from the Mysore Division participated in the programme.
